WASH Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the WASH Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV WASH M+E Officer will:
- Monitor UNICEF WASH implementing partner progress through visits to field programs in all of UNICEF’s operational field office sites and document challenges and progress, cross-referencing reporting of implementing partners and documented in programmatic visit reports
- Review and consolidate progress of monitoring indicators for UNICEF’s WASH programs
- Identify and contribute to key learning documentation for WASH programs to inform future programming and to expand knowledge management database
- Track humanitarian WASH indicators in coordination with implementing partners for consolidation and submission to WASH Cluster reporting tools (5Ws)
- Provide inputs to donor reports, annual work plans with the government, and humanitarian situation reports
- Develop and/or review assessment and monitoring tools and support partners to implement M+E tools and practices.
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Educational additional comments
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g.; statistics, international development or degree related to water and sanitation engineering.Advanced degree in M+E or statistics preferred.
Experience remark
At least three to five years of professional work experience in South Sudan in WASH or monitoring and evaluation sectors. Experience with humanitarian or emergency programs is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;

- Familiarity with tools and approaches of WASH programs (i.e., CLTS/CATS, water committee formation, hygiene promotion, theories of water extraction and treatment);
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness;
