Background Information - Job-specific

Under the guidance of the WASH Specialist, provide professional technical assistance and support to the vulnerable communities component of the UNICEF JCO WASH programme. As lead United Nations agency for the humanitarian WASH sector in Jordan, and with over 1.5m vulnerable people in Jordan, it is crucial for the needs of vulnerable communities to be identified and addressed.

To this end, UNICEF Jordan is seeking a qualified WASH Assistant to support the WASH UNICEF section and wider sector in Jordan.

Functional Responsibilities

Support the WASH Specialist in activities relating to the vulnerable communities and WASH section, including, but not limited to:

  • Researching, compiling, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and information from a variety of sources on subject matters relevant to the work of the section
  • Preparing monitoring and reporting information for supervisor and team on agreed performance indicators
  • Provide administrative, monitoring and technical assistance throughout the WASH programming process
  • Support baseline assessments, evidence generation and programme delivery for all aspects of the vulnerable communities section
  • Support in the generation of Knowledge Management and advocacy tools including collection of relevant information and documentation of the WASH section achievements with field visits
  • Support in implementing the communication plan in event’s preparation, management, donor visits
  • Participate in the planning and reporting processes within the section including data compilation and verification from IP managers
  • Support the development of preliminary concept notes by providing and collating reference information
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by supervisor

Education/Experience/Language requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Water and WasteWater Engineering, Water Resources Management, or Environmental Engineering/Management
  • 2 years of relevant experience in administrative and baseline technical support in WASH area and programmes.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic.
