About the job

The WASH Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of high-quality Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programs within Danish Refugees Council (DRC). This position requires a strong understanding of WASH principles and methodologies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Program Implementation:
    • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH activities, including:
    • Water supply and sanitation infrastructure development and maintenance
    • Hygiene promotion and community education campaigns
    • Sanitation and hygiene facilities construction and improvement
    • Water quality testing and treatment
    • Emergency WASH response activities
  • Community Engagement:
    • Conduct community meetings and trainings on WASH issues
    • Facilitate community-based planning and decision-making processes
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders
    • Address community concerns and resolve WASH-related issues in liaison with the WASH team leader and WASH officers.
  • Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze data on WASH program indicators
    • Prepare regular reports on activity progress and challenges.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all WASH activities (Hygiene promotion, water supply infrastructures operations and water quality data)
  • Logistics and Procurement:
    • Assist in the procurement and distribution of WASH supplies and materials
    • Ensure the proper maintenance and utilization of WASH equipment and tools
