Contract

This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

Millions of people all over the world support UNICEF and our cause. They raise money, they campaign and in some countries, they volunteer to help children in myriad ways. There is an opportunity to build on this force for good and go to another level of engagement with a committed group of volunteer supporters. A volunteer force would vastly extend UNICEF’s reach and help broaden and transform UNICEF itself.

Volunteers are uniquely able to help UNICEF:
•create a stronger connection, better communication, and more accountability between UNICEF and the communities it serves;
•foster vibrant discussion, debate, and sharing of information about child well-being in the places where UNICEF operates, and
•grow our presence and reach in the places where we work, thus enhancing the impact of programmatic interventions and making our brand even more powerful and our voice for child rights more potent.

In the beginning of 2020, UNICEF Brazil launched its Volunteer program, called #tmjUNICEF. Since then, more than 10.000 volunteers joined the program, participating in online training about human rights, participation, mental health, covid prevention, etc, and helping UNICEF to spread its messages both on their own social networks and UNICEF’s. In 2021, a core group of 20 volunteers was selected to produce content for UNICEF’s social media platforms, on a regular basis, based on the UNICEF Communication strategy.

During its third year of existence, 4,300 new volunteers were recruited (Feb/2022) who will help to leverage UNICEF’s messages, especially on Climate Change, as part of the project Dirt is Good, sponsored by a private partnership with Unilever.

Under the direct supervision of Digital Communication Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Support volunteer engagement with a focus on climate change and other related areas as part of the Dirt Is Good partnerships.
  2. Support volunteers in producing and disseminating related communication material.
  3. Facilitate collaboration between volunteers and the Communication section.
  4. Facilitate collaboration between volunteers and relevant programme areas.
