Supervise and coordinate the processing of travel claims.
You have:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of accounting or finance, audit experience would be an advantage.
- School diploma with six years of relevant experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems, Oracle plus generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls and audit/review procedures.
- Supervisory experience in finance or accounting functions.
- Experience in international organizations or shared service centers preferred.
- Audit experience is an advantage.
Contract
This is a G-6 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 6 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-6 contracts.

Under the direct supervision of the Central Transaction Processing Supervisor, and under the overall supervision of Chief, GSSC Finance Hub, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the processing of travel claims across assigned regions. The successful candidate ensures compliance with IOM Travel Rules and Regulations, provides guidance to assistants, and acts as the focal point for regional offices on travel claims and related financial matters.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of accounting or finance, audit experience would be an advantage; or
- School diploma with six years of relevant experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certifiis an advantage

EXPERIENCE
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems, Oracle plus generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls and audit/review procedures.
- Supervisory experience in finance or accounting functions.
- Experience in international organizations or shared service centers preferred.

SKILLS

Responsibilities
Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise Travel Claims Assistants, from assigned regions, providing guidance, training, and quality assurance.
- Allocate workload and monitor performance to ensure timely and accurate processing of claims.
- Act as the primary liaison for Headquarters, Administrative Centers, assigned regions coordinating with Regional Offices and Country Offices.
Travel Claims Approval and Invoice Processing
- Approves travel expense claims from Headquarters, Administrative Centers Regional Offices and assigned Country Offices, ensuring compliance with IOM Travel Rules and Regulations.
- Prepare and generate invoices based on validated data
- Review invoice accuracy and compliance
- Provide technical support and clarification to claimants from Headquarters, Administrative Centers Regional and Country Offices.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain monitoring files for assigned regions and provide daily status updates to the Supervisor.
- Track outstanding travel claims and advances, ensuring timely liquidation.
- Prepare internal reports, statistics, and analysis for management and audits.
- Monitor and review task distribution among the assigned team members to ensure timely completion
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Participate in the development and update of SOPs and work instructions for travel claims processing.
- Recommend procedural and policy improvements to strengthen internal controls and reduce risk of fraud.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and resolving queries.
Capacity Building
- Train and mentor new staff, interns and third party consultants (TPC) in travel claims procedures.
- Conduct workshops for Headquarters, Administrative Centers, Regional Offices and Country Offices on IOM travel policies and Wave Online Travel Application module usage.
Other Duties
- Manage GGSC Travel Claims mailbox and Fincoorp Groups.
- Collaborate with the Travel Application Development Team on technical issues in Oracle/Wave ERP system and Online Travel Application module.
