Overview

Produce a video for the Kunming Biodiversity Fund.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in film, video production, media, communications or A first level university degree with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in professional videography, video production, and editing is required.
  • Experience producing short, high quality videos for institutional, development, or international audiences is required.
  • Proficiency in professional video equipment (camera, audio, lighting) is required.
  • Strong editing skills using industry standard software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or equivalent) is required.
  • Strong storytelling skills and ability to translate complex concepts into engaging visual narratives is desirable.
  • Familiarity with UN communication standards and ethical guidelines is desirable.
  • Experience working in multicultural and international context is desirable.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required and the ability to translate into the Chinese language is desirable.

Result of Service

The ultimate results will be the delivery of at least ONE video with 3-5 minutes in length. Specific deliverables as well as deadlines and timelines are to be reviewed and agreed upon with the Programme Management Officer upon assignment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Organizational Setting: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP maintains several different project (components), programmes and multilateral environmental agreement secretariats and funds managed by the Biodiversity, People and Landscapes Unit (BPLU) in Ecosystems Division, including the Kunming Biodiversity Fund. The Kunming Biodiversity Fund (KBF) is a million USD Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) launched by China and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in 2024 to support developing nations in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). It focuses on biodiversity protection, capacity building, and sustainable agriculture, with over $55 million in contributions as of mid-2024. The Kunming Biodiversity Fund (KBF) was established to support the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) by mobilizing and deploying resources for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, with a strong focus on people‑centred, inclusive, and country‑driven action. This position is located in the KBF Secretariat working remotely reporting to the Programme Management Officer. Background: The Kunming Biodiversity Fund (KBF) is a Chinese-led initiative launched at COP15 (2021) with an initial 1.5 billion Yuan (approx. USD 207 million) to support developing countries in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). It is a Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) aimed at biodiversity conservation, restoration, and capacity building to halt nature loss by 2030. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant shall: • Plan, film, and edit video content for KBF events and/or field missions. • Capture interviews, b roll, and contextual footage; (if needed) • Produce finalized edited videos and short social media cut downs. • Ensure ethical standards, informed consent, and respectful representation. • Work closely with the KBF Secretariat to produce the one video including scripting and filming • Ensure that UN Standards are incorporated in the video production • Develop a realistic workplan and timeline
