Video and Design Consultant

Result of Service To better communicate to member states and other interested parties (finance institutions, NGOs, agribusinesses) how UNEP aims to unlock private finance for sustainable land use, by producing a number of communication products including media fact sheet, videos, brochure and websites.

Duties and Responsibilities The loss of forest, and the accompanying loss of ecosystems and the services they provide, threatens the security and livelihoods of local communities, reduces access to clean water, decreases soil productivity and accounts for 12 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. In recent years, it has become apparent that the most significant threat to the world's remaining forests is conversion for commercial agriculture and other non-forest use. Many of the environmental benefits of intact forest are unpriced 'externalities', resulting in the market mispricing natural forest assets. By converting forest to land and then producing tradeable commodities that the market can price, land users are able to take advantage of this perceived arbitrage opportunity. Anticipated global economic growth and changing diets will strengthen the demand for agricultural commodities and place additional pressure on forests in the foreseeable future, meaning that the pressure will get even bigger than it is today without a changing paradigm how land is managed, and agricultural commodities are produced. The challenge is to advance sustainable land use by developing business models that can manage sustainable commodity production while also maintaining forests and forest ecosystem services.

Under the supervision of the Head, Land Use Finance Unit the consultant will perform the following as an ultimate result of service:

State of Finance for Nature

1 global report, executive summary and case study: Lay out, translations and editing/proof reading 1 SFN cities report designed. 2 static infographics 1 video for social media showing summarizing the key findings. 1 power point slide deck

Finance for Nature web development: CFU annual report in web format New webpages to be developed to host the impact stories and training. Maintenance, update and development.

Agri3 1 animated video

Climate Finance lessons learns and impact directory 1 Infographic 2 Template for case studies, fact sheets and short briefs

Qualifications/special skills The consultant should have a Master's Degree in Physical Science, Finance or equivalent field is required with good design skills with a specific understanding of video production, animation and branding; good interpersonal skills.

Eligible candidates will also have at least 7 years of professional experience in design.

A Bachelor’s university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

The consultant should be skilled in Artistic direction; project management; motion graphics; Adobe Creative Suite; Cinema 4D; Blender; photography; film production. Do you have 7 years of professional experience in design

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consulting position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered an asset.
