Org. Setting and Reporting The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Vehicle Control Officer.

Responsibilities In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:

  • Assists the Vehicle Control Officer by :
    • Ensuring the daily work compliance with the agency transport standards regarding and the accurate use of documents;
    • Monitoring the transport requirements and operating schedules for the day to day operation of Agency vehicles and drivers;
    • Monitoring the operation of the bus contract/schedules;
    • Posting of fuel consumption data into the agency fleet/ERP systems and keeping up to date fleet management records;
    • Follow up the progression of accident cases and preparation of related reports.
  • Carries out inspection visits to UNRWA installation to check the assigned vehicles to these installations; conducts spot check on vehicle movements, vehicle documentation and the condition of equipment assigned to each vehicle;
  • Ensuring proper use of the agency fleet systems and ERP system to ensure the quality control measures are maintained, timeliness and efficient driver performance record prepared. Produces monthly reports and statistics ; monitors and certifies the driver overtime and allowance
  • Manages overall travel and logistics requests from other UN agencies regarding travel assistance and prepares the monthly charges due for those agencies and entities;
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

    Education Two years diploma in business administration, computer science or any subject related to the above functions and responsibilities.

    Work Experience At least, four years’ experience in administrative work, three of which should have been in transport operations.

    Languages Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

    Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

    Special Notice Conditions of service:

  • Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $1164.3; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25.
  • Contract Duration: Three years including 1 year probation period.
  • Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
  • Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
  • Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.

Desirable Qualifications: - Good knowledge of licensing procedures; - Good knowledge of the geographical area.

Additional Information: - Knowledge of local and Agency traffic rules and procedures; - Possession of a valid driver’s license is required, as the incumbent is required to drive all types of Agency vehicles in the course of his duties.

Equivalency: When the minimum requirements are not fully met, Field Director for Field Area staff and Director of Human Resources for Headquarters Area staff, in consultation with the concerned supervisor may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience. NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination
