UNICEF is the lead of cold chain and logistics; it is therefore essential to recruit a Cold Chain Specialist to support ongoing initiatives in prioritized countries concerning the strengthening of the supply chain. The position will contribute to providing support to ensure efficient integrated supply chain management, vaccine stock management, expansion or deployment of logistic systems, effective vaccine management, and cold chain equipment management. A well-functioning supply chain is essential for the success of the immunization program with effective stock management at its heart. Therefore the Vaccine and Information Specialist will support the strengthening of data management systems across countries to ensure better oversight of immunization-related data and improve monitoring systems.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Regional Immunization Advisor, the purpose of the position is to provide technical support to countries in LAC with special focus on priority countries with a high number of zero dose children, to improve Immunization supply chain (ISC) management through vaccine stock management , Effective Vaccine Management (EVM), cold chain equipment management , technical assistance provided to selected countries to strengthen immunization information systems, functioning National Logistics Working Groups and general support to integration of health related supply chains and supplementary immunization activities.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (master’s degree or higher) in one of the following fields is required: Health Sciences & Public Health, Engineering, Information Management, or another relevant field. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) is accepted if combined with two more years of working experience than required hereunder.
  • Additional relevant courses that complement the main degree related to Supply Chain, and Logistics is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant and increasingly responsible professional work experience in Immunization, Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Management, and/or other related fields at both national and international levels is required.
  • Minimum one year of work experience in national and/or international organization/s and/or national government. Knowledge in cold chain management is an asset.
  • Experience in interfacing with Ministries of Health is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese will be considered an asset
