The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Vientiane, Lao PDR, requires an experienced and qualified Lao National to fill the position of Operations Assistant, at GS-3 level to be based in UNICEF Country Office in Vientiane, Lao PDR.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Assistant, acts as an Operations Assistant to the UNICEF Office and carries out additional typing ad secretarial duties.

  1. Receives and screens incoming calls and transfer to appropriate Sections
  2. Manage incoming and outgoing pouches.
  3. Receives visitors to the office and provides information as appropriate
  4. Receives messages and local mail for transmittal to the Representative’s secretary.
  5. Keeps lists of names, addresses and telephone numbers of UNICEF contacts, Government officials, diplomatic corps and UN Agencies and other institutions.
  6. Performs secretarial and typing functions for the office operations as required.
  7. Manage the carpool project, UNICEF cars and drivers.
  8. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and experience:

Education:

▪ Completion of secondary education.

▪ Knowledge of modern office procedures.

▪ Ability to learn and operate word-processing equipment

Professional experience:

▪ Three years' experience in clerical functions.

▪ Experience as a receptionist an asset.

Language:

▪ Fluency in English and Lao is required
