You have:

  • Advanced university degree in social sciences, law, or relevant field.
  • Five years of professional work experience at national and international levels in child protection.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Arabic is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset.

Contract

This is a P-3 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 90,997 USD and 119,154 USD.

Salary for a P-3 contract in Sana'a

The international rate of 74,649 USD, with an additional 21.9% (post adjustment) at this the location, applies. Please note that depending on the location, a higher post adjustment might still result in a lower purchasing power.

In the 1970s UNICEF established presence in Yemen to respond to the urgent needs of children in the poorest country in the Middle East. In 1991, Yemen ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child and it was enacted immediately. Since then the country has been making steady progress for children until it plunged into a brutal conflict in 2015 but even before that, Yemen needed large amounts of humanitarian assistance.

In collaboration with local authorities, non-governmental organizations and community partners, UNICEF is working in all the governorates in Yemen to respond to the needs of children throughout the country with a continuum of services to help children survive and grow to their full potential through the following programmes: Health,* *Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene,* *Basic Education, and *Child protection**.*

To make a difference, the Child Protection Specialist will perform the following key functions\accountabilities:

  • Programme Planning, Development and Management.
  • Promotion of UNICEF’s Global Goals

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

Advanced university degree, preferably in the social sciences, law or another relevant field. A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.

Work Experience:

Five years of professional work experience at national and international levels in child protection, including international work experience for IP and additional experience in gender based violence.

Language: Fluency in English is required. Arabic is highly desired. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset.
