Using GIS and Remote sensing for a sewage pond project

Morobe Development Foundation is looking for 3 online volunteers with research expertise who has knowledge in GIS specifically Google Earth, Remote Sensing and other related GIS application. The successful online volunteers selected will assist MDF to map, and use GIS to estimate the area and dimension using satellite for a current sewage pond project MDF is undertaking. The online volunteers will simply map the sewage pond and the study area, use other GIS tools to calculate the dimension and volume of the pond.

  Morobe Development Foundation Inc. have carried out a study to determine the level of forest loss, land use because due to population growth and urbanization in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. The study falls in line with the Foundation objective which is to support community development to help address issues in the rural and urban communities of Papua New Guinea. The selected online volunteers will assist in mapping and use other GIS analysis tools to help in completing a sewage pond project currently being undertaken by MDF.

• 1-5 hours per week / 1 weeks

  Candidates we are looking for must have experience in research in the areas of GIS mapping and analysis. Candidates must have good communication and presentation skills. He or she must have a Masters in GIS mapping or any related field. Candidates are expected to carry out the task within one week before being certified.
