Provide training and support for Unmanned Underwater Systems

You have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with ROVs and UUS is required.
  • Minimum relevant experience reduced to five years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher in Engineering, Information and Telecommunications Technology, Underwater Unmanned Systems or related field.
  • Experience in delivering training in both civilian and military learning environments is required.
  • Trainer certification in observation class ROV in models such as X3 Blue Robotics Deep Trekker is required.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
  • Experience in working within a variety of government agencies and stakeholder groups is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Special Political missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide. This position is located in the Technology Development Unit (TDU), within the Technology Development, Design and Planning Section (TDDPS) of the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at the UNICTF, Valencia, Spain. The incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief, Technology Development Unit. Within limits of delegated authority, the User support consultant – Unmanned Underwater Systems (UUS) will be responsible for the following duties: • Conduct remote preliminary meetings with Hiring Manager/participants, to hold customized discussions focusing on the need and requirement of the UUS. • Develop doctrine, guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) operations and training. • Deliver UUS training to clients, in both civilian and military learning environments, in Valencia – Spain or in other countries as required. • Prepare UUS course material according to International and UN policies and guidelines. • Review UUS policies, guidelines, and course material and incorporate best practices as appropriate. • Prepare brief reports after each delivered training course. • Provide technical support for technology watch and technology forecasting initiatives. • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with ROVs and UUS is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (05) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher in Engineering, Information and Telecommunications Technology, Underwater Unmanned Systems or related field. Experience in delivering training in both a civilian and military learning environment is required. Experience in working within a variety of government agencies and stakeholder groups and a diversity of individuals (gender, age, language etc.) is desirable. Trainer certification in observation class ROV in any of the following ROV models is required: X3 Blue Robotics Deep Trekker

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
