Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Special Political missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.

This position is located in the Technology Development Unit (TDU), within the Technology Development, Design and Planning Section (TDDPS) of the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at the UNICTF, Valencia, Spain. The incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief, Technology Development Unit.

Within limits of delegated authority, the User support consultant – Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) will be responsible for the following duties:

· Develop doctrine, guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to UAS operations and training.

· Deliver Class I UAS training to clients, in both a civilian and military learning environments, in Valencia – Spain or in other countries as required.

· Prepare Class I UAS course material according to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and UN policies and guidelines.

· Review Class I UAS policies, guidelines, course material and incorporate best practices as appropriate.

· Prepare back brief reports after each delivered training course.

· Provide technical support for technology watch and technology forecasting initiatives.

· Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills High School Diploma is required. A minimum of 7 years relevant work with UAS, aviation, information and telecommunications systems or sensors is required. The minimum years of relevant years of experience is reduced to 5 years for candidate who possess a first level university degree in Engineering, Information and Telecommunications Technology, Aviation or related field from an accredited university. Experience in delivering training in both a civilian and military learning environment is required. Experience in working effectively within a variety of government agencies and stakeholder groups and a diversity of individuals (gender, age, language etc.) is desirable. A minimum A1/A3 UAS qualification recognized by an appropriate licensing authority is required.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
