ITG’s goal is to provide greater effectiveness, efficiency, and differentiation to UNOPS products and services. UNOPS IT Group is responsible for architecting, designing, delivering, and managing all UNOPS IT infrastructure and business applications. The unit includes Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, Solutions Designers, Developers and QA Testers from all around the world who are based primarily in Denmark and Thailand.

Background Information - Job-specific

Under the supervision of the Product Manager, the UX designer will be responsible for participating with multidisciplinary teams to create designs which provide experiences that deliver user satisfaction in an accessible and inclusive manner whilst also being aware of the unique context of UNOPS as an organisation with an incredible diversity of demographics operating in low bandwidth and non-office environments.

The designer will also be closely involved in defining standards, best practices and design libraries with the Design and Digital Visibility Architect.

Functional Responsibilities

Research

  • Participate in the gathering of user requirements alongside the Product Manager.
  • Conduct user research to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Conduct usability testing and user feedback sessions to continuously evaluate and improve the user experience.

Design

  • Utilise user insights and research to shape the product experience.
  • Design and prototype user interfaces that are intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly.
  • Design user journeys, concepts, and wireframes for web and mobile features.
  • Ensure that user interfaces are designed in a fashion that is compatible with accessibility and usability.
  • Align designs with UNOPS UX and brand standards to ensure consistency across solutions.
  • Develop visual direction for new and existing digital products.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure that designs are feasible to implement.
  • Work closely with product managers to align designs with business goals.
  • Present design ideas and rationale to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and product managers, to ensure the successful implementation of user-centric design.
  • Guide the implementation of designs and provide feedback to ensure optimal solutions.

Knowledge Management

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in user experience design.
  • Create user-friendly tools and systems for enhancing creative visual design.
  • Participate in the creation and evolution of standards, best practices, design libraries and other artefacts.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Visual Design, Design or other relevant discipline is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in combination with an additional two years of experience may be accepted in lieu of master’s degree.
  • Secondary education in combination with an additional six years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a master's degree.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience working with Adobe XD or Figma is required as well as 3 years of experience working with Adobe Suite and 3 years of experience working with User-Centric Design is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with HTML, 1 year of experience working with User Research and 1 year of experience working with Usability Testing is required.
  • Experience with designing digital products for large-scale NGOs is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with existing UNOPS solutions is a strong asset.
  • Experience in working in cross-functional Agile teams is a strong asset.
  • Experience in working in a highly diverse organisation is a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication skills and good IT understanding.

Languages

  • Fluency in English is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of another UN language(s) will be considered an asset.
