Result of Service Completed project plan upon inception of projects. - Initial design and mock-up for assigned projects. - Technical documentation and user manual for assigned projects. - Progress reports with time sheets indicating the fulfilment/progress of requested tasks/activities. - Final Source code/Design/Images/Animations and all assets related to the website and web applications being developed. - Any other output and deliverables as requested by ESCWA.

Duties and Responsibilities The UX/UI Expert will develop and maintain frontend websites, as well as design collaterals, creating looks, layouts, and features in attractive professional graphic design. To do that, the contractor will follow UN established standards for web development, IT technologies,

programming languages, and tools, also preparing, maintaining, and referencing project-base agreed technical, user, and functional specifications and documentations.

Under the overall guidance of the Chief, ICTS, and of the unit lead, with direct supervision and guidance from the technical team leader, the UX/UI Expert will perform the following tasks:

- Create the look, layout, and features of a website in attractive professional graphic design in an intuitive, user-friendly style and design collaterals. - Develop frontend for websites using UN established standards for web design, technologies, and tools. - Interpret user requirements and translate these into systems specifications. - Analyse and advise on innovative web-based solutions. - Prepare technical and user documentation for deployed websites and products, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations. - Maintain functional specifications for websites, programs and procedures developed and/or modified. - Provide support for deployed websites including version management, data recovery and deployment. - Support digitization, visualization, and development of infographics for various products. - Trains staff on completed products. - Assists in the maintenance and enhancement of existing user systems, the development of new software applications, and data visualization and data analytics initiatives. - Any other related tasks as needed per UN ICT or ESCWA’s strategy.

Qualifications/special skills A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Computer Information Systems, Information systems, or any other related fields is required. Certification in web design /development is desirable. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of two years of work experience in a multi-developer environment, with knowledge of web development (HTML, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), and any JavaScript dialect/frameworks), understanding of user experience and user interface concepts and principles, and conceptual designs is required. At least 1 year experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows site maps, and rapid prototyping is desirable, responsive design and in designing multilingual websites is desirable. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite tools is desirable.

Languages Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second official United Nations language is an advantage.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
