This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

This is a national UN Youth Volunteer assignment, The UN Volunteer will support the UNV Country Coordinator on daily volunteer management and volunteer mobilization with UNAFPs.

Under the direct supervision of the Country Coordinator the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Recruitment Support • Maintain an up-to-date record of UN Volunteers, Recruitment Pipeline, End of Contracts and prepare regular and ad hoc reporting on recruitment and UNV data; • Liaise with hiring managers/sections submission of recruitment requests and related documenta-tion; • Review and validate Description of Assignment (DoA) to ensure its coherence, accuracy, con-sistency of tasks and requirements;
• Ensure publishing of UNV assignment opportunities online and contribute to identification and mobilization of candidates if needed; • Coordinate with sections to conduct interviews, review selection documents and submit to UNV HQs for further onboarding process; • Liaise with UNV HQ to arrange travel, pre-departure entitlement and settling-in-grant, shipping allowance etc. • Coordinate onboarding of new arrivals with different departments and agencies for accommoda-tion reservation; issuance of ID card, and other onboarding formalities. • Check-in new arrivals in different system and ensure that they are hired in the system (Atlas, UVP etc.. as applicable); • Maintain and update efficient induction resources and conduct induction for new arrivals prior to joining their agencies;

Entitlement Management • Prepare necessary documents and liaise with Section Chiefs/UNV Regional Office and HQs to facilitate timely contract extensions and terminations, exceptions, and other authorizations in re-lations to volunteer assignment management; • Validate and consolidate supporting documents and upload them in the system to process payments; • Consolidate payroll earning and deductions and review necessary documentation for payroll verification processes as applicable; • Process payroll and non-payroll entitlements for UN Volunteers and enter payroll earnings and deductions in One Time Entry as required; • Provide guidance and client-oriented advice, in consultation with the Country Coordinator, to UN Volunteers on Conditions of Service (COS), Internal Circulars and other documents on policies and procedures; • Verify and approve leave management in the system and provide advice to UN Volunteers on leave management; • Track and process documentation related to UNV assignment including but not limited to Volun-teer Performance Assessments, training documents and any other volunteer related documenta-tion;

Administrative Support • Ensure all UN Volunteer files and records are complete, updated and consolidated, both online and offline, while maintaining confidentiality; • Plan and organize office meetings, take minutes during the meetings and maintain records of the minutes when needed; • Keep abreast of UNV COS, and different rules regarding Leave Management; • Perform any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host coun-try; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participa-tion in ongoing reflection activities; • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

3 years of experience in 3 years of relevant HR and/or administrative experience is required at the national or international lev-el; strong client orientation and willingness to serve in a hardship duty station. Familiarity with UNV and or UNDP recruitment process is desirable but not mandatory.

The position is National UN Volunteers assignment and hence the UN Volunteer will manage his/ her own living accommodation which he/ she can cover from her/ his monthly VLA.
