This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

With support and oversight from the Programme Officer the overall work of the Programme Assistant will be to ensure that UNDP and its partners receive technical support as required to implement the LPP project activities in Zimbabwe. The UNV Programme Assistant assists the Programme Officer-HIV to ensure the provision of effective and efficient programme activities by:

  • Developing virtual and physical advocacy training sessions for key population and LGBTI groups based on the LPP produced YKP Advocacy guide, the LEA reports and other similar resources
  • Leading the delivery of virtual and face to face capacity development training for young key populations and LGBTI groups,
  • Developing materials and conduct online sessions to prepare young key populations and LGBTI for effective participation in regional events including SADC, ACHPR, and AU meetings, and
  • Documenting and producing lessons learned on national and regional young key population and LGBTI advocacy capacity interventions.

2. Provides administrative support to the Project focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Creation of requisitions in Atlas for all travel and procurement planned under the project.
  • Maintenance of the filing system ensuring safekeeping of confidential materials.
  • Assist in the organization of and writing minutes of meetings.
  • Assist in the development of materials for meetings, presentations and workshops.
  • Compiles, analyses, summarizes data pertaining to the project, maintains records, documents and training plans for the monitoring of project implementation.
  • Performs other tasks as required.

3. Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the PMU focusing on achievement of the following results:

  1. Assist with spot checks on approved technical trainings to ensure compliance.
  2. Synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices in the project

  • Experience working with the UN, donors, multilateral organizations and NGOs is necessary and essential.
  • Verified practice on coordinating and producing peer reviewed publications for UN, development partners, government and academic journals.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing guides, tools and manuals, as well as dissemination material pertaining to HIV, human rights and the law will be an advantage

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • Advanced Degree in Law, Pubic Health, Development Studies, or related fields.

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Health-related projects is a requirement.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems. Previous UNDP/LPP experience would be an added advantage.

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
