This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

Description of task

Under the supervision of Programme Officer and Youth Coordinator, the incumbent position will perform the following activities:

  1. Support Implementation:
  • Assist the Programme Officer to implement the activities in relation to civic engagement and youth entrepreneurship development;
  • Support to motivate and mobilize youth with a vision to be active citizens;
  • Draft TORs, session plan and concept note required for the implementation of planned activities;
  • Assist to organize thematic national level dialogues, workshops, conference and innovation challenges;
  • Assist to monitor to the progress of the planned works and generate progress report;
  • Assist to co-ordinate with focal point of the youth organizations/startups and follow-up on their planning, deployment and monitoring of agreed upon solutions;
  • Support the process of preparation of scalable proposals.
  1. Knowledge Management and Documentation
  • Contribute to knowledge management by preparing briefing notes, meeting documentation, newsletter to help advance the youth engagement work through regular communication and information sharing.
  • Support to undertake secondary research concerning youth and governance issues and bases on the findings contribute to develop new ideas and proposals.
  • Assist in drafting briefing notes, talking points, funding proposals and presentations.
  • Assist to proper filing of all project information
  1. Communication and Report Writing
  • Support to maintain relationship with youth networks of different Universities, partner youth organizations and young volunteers.
  • Support to prepare beneficiaries’ stories for the media.
  • Support to prepare content to promote the activities in social media.
  • Support to prepare event reports and annual report of the youth focused programmes.

4. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational additional comments

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in social science, business management, innovation and entrepreneurship, or any related field;

Experience remark

  • Experience upto 2 years.
  • Previous engagement with youth-related work an asset - experience of volunteering/working/interning in youth focused CSO/s or youth empowerment projects.
  • Demonstrated writing skills and content development
  • Good command of English and Bangla, written and oral; knowledge of regional languages preferred.
  • Demonstrates commitment to UN’s mission, vision and values;
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, diplomacy and sensitivity to confidential matters;
  • Previous assignment in a similar position would be desirable;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels;

Language skills

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Bengali(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
