UNV Budget and Finance Assistant

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Senior Administrative Officer, or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV - Budget and Finance Assistant will undertake the following tasks:
- Assist in the preparation of a results-based budget for the Ozone Secretariat for submission to the Parties to the Montreal Protocol and Vienna Convention
- Verify documents for overall accuracy, consistency and uniformity in presentation and ensure comprehensiveness and compliance, cross-check consistency of figures in tables with the text of the reports and verify references to other reports and documents and ensure that all necessary corrections are incorporated.
- Review budget utilization on a monthly basis and assist with the preparation of the report for management review and on yearly basis for submission to the parties
- Review income and analyse ageing of contributions on a monthly basis and assist with the preparation of the report for management review
- Review financial transactions every month for accuracy and correctness and propose accounting adjustments, if required
Provide logistics support in the meetings as required
Provide guidance to Implementing Partners on financial reporting as per the legal agreement and on the templates to be used for meeting the reporting requirements
- Initiate processing of cash advances and expenditure recording and follow up on remittances of funds and liquidation of purchase orders.
- Assist in the follow-up on outstanding financial and technical reports with the executing agencies.
- File and archive documentation in soft and hard copies and keep log of archived files.
- Draft/prepare routine correspondence with respect to enquiries related to relevant financial and budget matters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or accounting is required
Required experience:
36 Months
Experience remark:
- Additional technical qualifications, certified public account (CPA) or equivalent are desired.
- Demonstrated experience of up to 3 years in preparing budget and financial reports for large organizations.
- Excellent writing skills and knowledge of budget preparation process desired.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and MS Word is required.
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
