The programme focuses on improving the quality of social services, increasing access to services, and helping to build national and sub-national capacities to provide low-cost, high-impact interventions for all children, especially the most vulnerable.

How can you make a difference?

Individual consultancy services are being sought to provide strategic support to the nutrition programme planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring particularly pertaining to nutrition policy, advocacy, food and nutrition security coordination and support to ongoing joint programme (ZRBF and ERHZIV).

CONSULTANCY DURATION - 103 days

ASSIGNMENT:

The consultant will be responsible for the following:

  1. In collaboration with the food legislation consultant and in coordination with the policy task team, support the food legislation review process including the updating of the national Code of Breastmilk substitute
  2. Support UNICEF’s food systems for young children and adolescent programme specifically collaborating with government and our implementing partners in completing the food environment review and supporting coordination of the “food lab” and the complementary feeding framework
  3. Undertake monitoring and support supervision of UNICEF implementing partners working on the nutrition SBCC programme through UNICEF jointly funded programme with UNDP (ZRBF)
  4. Support the implementation of the 1st phase of the joint WASH and Nutrition project (ERVHIZ)
  5. In collaboration with the fortification Task Force, undertake planning and monitoring for the food fortification programme.
  6. Support the compilation of UNICEF information products related to programme response and including donor reports, Human Interest stories and multimedia visibility and other reporting requirements.
  7. Provide input to the nutrition strategic documents under development including SBCC adolescent nutrition strategy and the technical guideline for subnational level food and nutrition security coordination
  8. Contribute to planning and monitoring and evaluation of nutrition activities.

Coordinate UNICEF and other UNs inputs into the guideline for the subnational Food and Nutrition security coordination structure and provide support to FNC for finalization10 days (10%)Support the OIC manager in planning, monitoring and reporting of the overall UNICEF Rolling work plan- Contribute to the End of year programme reporting including writing of lesson learn/best practices - Support the OIC nutrition manager with coordinating the development of the 2022 Annual workplan - Contribute to Post-HDF document write-up. Support nutrition unit in HACT monitoring with 2 field monitoring

20 days (20%) Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

Advanced University Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, social research or other post-graduate field related to programme management in development context. A first University Degree in a relevant field combined (in public health or nutrition) with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.

At least five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in Nutrition programming

Previous experience in UNICEF working in UN system

Languages: Ability to communicate fluently in English required.

Able to work within various teams and be able to contribute to the overall success of that team

Able to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to work.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
