How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Zimbabwe is seeking to hire an innovative and enthusiastic national individual consultant. Under the supervision of the Chief of Communication, responsible for setting up of a photo and video library, file all relevant photo and video content in the library as well on the global WeShare platform, assist in content generation in text, photo and video including during field missions, and work as back-up in the crafting and posting of social media post.

BACKGROUND

The Communication Section has reorganised the division of the labor in the team following temporary internal staff movement. This temporary redistribution of tasks will ensure the tasks of the Communication Specialist are covered while the communication section members get the opportunity to be exposed to new responsibilities and develop new skills, as a part of the development of their career. This redistribution of tasks will create a few gaps in the work distribution in the team, which is suggested to be covered by an individual consultant.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Under the supervision of the Chief Communication, the individual consultant will support with the following key areas and tasks:

  1. Set up a photo and video library accessible to the entire staff of UNICEF Zimbabwe
  2. Filling all photo and video content available within UNICEF Zimbabwe
  3. Upload a selection of recent photo and video files on the global WeShare platform
  4. Create text, photo and video content linked to field missions, including those that include the UNICEF Representative
  5. Ensure support and back-up for crafting and posting of social media content

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in communications, or any other related discipline.

Experience:

2 years’ experience in content generation and photo/video

Strong writing, visual and content development skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.

Languages:

Fluency in English. Knowledge of Shona and/or Ndebele will be an advantage

The technical proposal should articulate an understanding of the TOR and include the proposed Tasks/Milestones, Deliverables/Outputs, Timeline and level of effort by deliverable. Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
