UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, is an international devel-opment agency that promotes the right of every woman, man, and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA sup-ports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect. Under UNFPA’s ca-pacity as chair of the UN theme group (UNTG) on young people, UNFPA coordinate and lead joint UN interventions on youth issues and priorities.

UNFPA’s country program (2018-2022) was formulated within the context of national Palestin-ian priorities and based on the Palestinian national and sectoral development plans within its mandate areas and in synergy with the joint UN framework “UNSDCF” especially within the frame to strengthen the institutional capacity and resilience of people in Palestine, in pursuit of the statehood agenda and sustainable human development. This will be achieved by: (a) ad-vocating for the operationalization of the national youth strategy; (b) supporting youth-led net-works and organizations to create demand for sexual and reproductive health services, life skills, and civic engagement programmes for vulnerable adolescents and youth, particularly for adolescent girls at risk of child marriage ; (c) advocating for effective participation of youth in conflicts and disaster risk management, to become agents of positive change based on Se-curity Council resolution 2250; (d) promoting evidence-based advocacy and policy advice on population dynamics and its linkages with youth empowerment, addressing the demographic dividend and building on the generated evidence towards Palestine 2030.

The Youth Coordinator reports to the UNFPA adolescents and youth Team Leader with close supervision from the UNFPA Representative and Chair of the Youth UNTG and will undertake the following three groups of tasks:

Tasks include: •Support the Youth Theme Group in its secretariat functions, to ensure good coordination between UN agencies’ youth programming; •Undertake mapping of UN agencies youth work and liaise with UN agency youth focal points to ensure the overview is up to date; •Support the formulation and implementation of joint activities, including support to the development of concept notes and other tasks focused on mobilization of resources for joint youth related interventions; •Assist in formulating joint programming, events, and communication efforts. •Reporting on joint activities. •Promote information sharing on various aspects of UN’s youth programs and projects. •Identify mechanisms to foster coordination and complementarity among inputs of various stakeholders to ensure optimal utilization of resources and maximize impact of programmatic interventions. •Develop a monitoring system on UN including joint interventions for young people sup-ported by UN agencies. •Develop all reports and documentations related to Youth UNTG, including good practices and promising ideas.

A minimum of two years progressively work experience in programme planning and management of youth or any other relevant programmes Excellent writing, organizational and planning skills Demonstrated working knowledge of UN rules and regulations and, guidance related to partnership Fluent in Arabic and English

A 12-month contract; with subsequent contract extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.

Travel to duty station (if applicable) and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided in the event duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment. A Volunteer Living Al-allowance (VLA) of ILS 4724.83 ( is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
