UNICEF India is fully committed to working with the Government of India to ensure that each child born in this vast and complex country gets the best start in life, thrives and develops to his or her full potential. The organization began its work in India in 1949 with three staff members and established an office in Delhi three years later. Currently it advocates for the rights of India's children in 16 states. As part of UNICEF India's WASH strategy, the India Country Office (ICO) aims to specifically contribute to a dedicated global goal on water and sanitation (SDG6), which sets out to ensure "availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation to now cover the entire water cycle, including the management of water, wastewater and ecosystem resources. The UNV is expected to support the WASH Officer, M&E focal point in New Delhi in the ongoing planning, monitoring and research and evaluation activities. The following tasks are expected: 1. Support in annual reporting and development of WASH Rolling Work Plans: UNV will support WASH Officer in development and finalization of WASH rolling work plans and support in updating the monitoring plans. This might include support to prepare situation analysis, identifying data sources for end year RAM reporting along with SMQ and annual report preparation. 2. Support in donor reporting and monitoring: UNV will support in developing and updating monitoring frameworks for donor reporting. UNV will support in development of process monitoring frameworks and identify innovative means for monitoring the on-field monitoring and reporting of programmes. 3. Support in strengthening the government data systems: This will include re­ viewing of data points for sanitation, water and hygiene from available MIS, na­tional level surveys in order to identify key deprivations and gaps in existing gov­ernment data system. UNV will support the WASH officer to advocate with Minis­ try and state government departments on relevant monitoring and reporting on SDG targets. The UNV will further support in the development/revision of rapid needs assessment tools and questionnaires, and strengthening the capacity of sec­ tor partners for information management for emergency WASH preparedness and response. 4. Support in research and evaluation: UNV will support the development of TORs for research and evaluation studies under the supervision of the WASH Of­ficer and review of draft research and study reports. This will include coordina­tion with research partner agencies as needed. The UNV will also coordinate with state offices for tracking the evidence work and support in dissemination of the research findings, including developing topline finding notes. 5. Support innovation, knowledge management and capacity building, includ­ing support to document good practices of M&E work happening in states, support WASH officer in integrating technology options for monitoring and capacity build­ing of stakeholders using new platforms for M&E work

Results/Expected Outputs: The support provided by the UNV will enable the ongoing monitoring and evaluation work in country office to help in internal monitoring and reporting of WASH targets, reporting to donor partners, strengthen evidence and data on WASH. This, in turn, will contribute to the achievement of the outcome results of the country programme document. When done effectively, the achievement of the outcome results will improve child survival, growth and development and reduce inequalities in the country.

development sector preferably hands-on experience in monitoring and research work. • Basic understanding of the WASH sector in India. • Has good writing and communication skills, prior experience in conducting research studies will be an asset. • Experienced in using google forms, Excel, PowerPoint, ODK platforms and any other open-source software for data collection is desirable. • Understanding of the UN system and UNICEF's mandate.

Living in New Delhi is like any other metropolis in the world with its own share of experiences and conditions. Being the capital city, traffic is busy with a population of 26 min NCR alone. The summers are hot and the winter is generally cold but manageable. A welcome briefing book will be provided later on confirmation. Monthly Volunteer living allowance of INR 38,175 is provided in this assignment.
