Background

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The Unstereotype Alliance is a thought and action platform convened by UN Women, that uses advertising as a force for good to drive positive change. It seeks to eradicate all harmful stereotypes from advertising and media content. With a focus on empowering people in all their diversity (race, class, age, ability, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, language, education, etc.) to help create a gender equal world, the Alliance brings together a powerful global coalition of private sector leaders behind the common goal of eliminating gender bias and harmful stereotypes from their advertising.

To create a practical and enforceable way to achieve real global change, the Unstereotype Alliance implemented its National Expansion Programme (NEP) to activate the Alliance’s mission at a local and country level. The UA Secretariat hereby seeks to recruit a Project Coordination Analyst to assist with the strategic and operational development of this workstream.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Unstereotype Alliance Secretariat (HUAS), the Project Coordination Analyst will assist the NEP Specialist with the coordination and management of the NEP, to maintain continuity and sustain the momentum of the twelve established National Chapters (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Turkey, UAE and UK) as well as the launch of 2 new National Chapters (China and Indonesia) by mid-2024. The Project Coordination Analyst will assist with outreach at a country level, providing ongoing strategic, tactical, administrative, financial and operational support for established and prospective National Chapters and UN Women Country Office colleagues. This includes the onboarding of national colleagues and members, tracking correspondence, supporting on major events, performing data entry, and providing regular reporting while interacting between UN Women focal points in Country Offices and the Secretariat.

The Project Coordination Analyst will coordinate all new and existing chapters with Due Diligence research, and on global projects requiring National Chapter engagement (e.g. B2C campaign activations across all National Chapters, Global Research Forum). The staff will provide support to the wider Unstereotype Alliance team as appropriate to plan for 2023/4 UA events (e.g. Cannes Lions Festival, UNGA and the Global Member Summit).

The duration of the assignment is 364 days (or not exceeding 31/08/2024)****. Whereas an external candidate will be offered a temporary appointment, subject to release agreements, staff members in UN Women may be administered as a temporary assignment and staff members in the UN Common system may be administered under a loan arrangement.
