You have:
- Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities
Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) , United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), in Beijing Office ,China The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Program Manager ,Beijing Office UN-SPIDER In its resolution 61/110 of 14 December 2006 the United Nations General Assembly agreed to establish the "United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response - UN-SPIDER" as a new United Nations programme, with the following mission statement: "Ensure that all countries and international and regional organizations have access to and develop the capacity to use all types of space-based information to support the full disaster management cycle". A number of initiatives in recent years have contributed in making space technologies available for humanitarian aid and emergency response. Yet, UN-SPIDER is the first to focus on the need to ensure access to and use of such technologies during all phases of the disaster management cycle, including the risk reduction phase which is crucial for reducing the losses of lives and property. The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time - 40 hours). Interns will primarily focus on supporting the 2025 UN-SPIDER RSO GeoAI Compendium, which involves collecting and compiling responses from Regional Support Offices (RSOs), performing data analysis, and developing charts, graphs, and other multimedia content. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Assisting the team in gathering, sorting, and analyzing data or survey responses from RSOs. • Preparing visual materials such as infographics, charts, graphs, and short multimedia content to illustrate findings. • Formatting and proofreading documents such as reports, information notes, or brochures. • Supporting communication with stakeholders via email or other online platforms. • Performing other tasks as necessary, including ad hoc research and content development. • Provide assistance in formatting the documents such as information note, agenda, background board, brochure, badges etc. • Perform other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications/special skills
• Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). • Be computer literate in standard software applications; • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
