UK-Med Register - Primary Care/General Practice Nurse

Overview

Provide nursing care and support to patients in humanitarian response.

You have:

• Hold a current nursing license.
• Demonstrate current and unconditional membership of a suitable registering organisation.
• Hold specific qualifications or professional registrations in Nursing Science/Degree.
• Be able to travel and work internationally at short notice for a minimum of 4-6 weeks.

Are you a licensed Primary Care Nurse interested in gaining experience and knowledge in the humanitarian field, particularly in providing emergency medical care?

• Hours: UK-Med Register role, no guarantee of any work, but if deployed work will be full-time.

• Remuneration: GBP £3,400 – GBP £4,000 Gross per month (Dependent on the level of role & the adversity of the context)

• Duration: Register members who deploy will be offered fixed-term contracts. The duration will depend on the requirements of the response but most responses are between 4 and 12 weeks

• Location: Internationally and/or to any of the UK-Med responses.

We are seeking Primary Care/General Practice Nurses that are enthusiastic about extending their knowledge and skills within a humanitarian environment. You will be able to make yourself available to travel and work internationally at short notice for a minimum of 4-6 weeks (longer availability is highly desirable) to join our register.

​The Primary Care/General Practice Nurse will assume the role of providing nursing care and support to patients in need of clinical case management during humanitarian response. This position entails taking the lead in organizing, overseeing, and strategizing patient care activities, with a primary focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Collaborative efforts with the clinical team lead, medical doctors, and paramedics will be crucial in managing clinic and in-patient care, as well as ensuring the appropriate referral of patients to further medical attention.

​The Nurse will manage multiple streams of work being implemented and act as a technical resource to support the activities related to the context, ensuring that best practice and global standards of patient care are implemented and maintained. They will play a central role in building the local capacity of any field staff (i.e. Ministry of Health or other NGOs), in areas related to the response, through training delivery.​
