Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) manages several enterprise ICT systems for extensive use by the peacekeepers in the field missions. As the internet of things, mobile, and cloud computing continue to evolve, OICT intends to revise the design of some of these systems and build new applications with due regard to highly productive user experience.
The UI/UX Designer is expected to carry out, primarily, the following responsibilities: - Understand business requirements and create user-centered designs. - Sketch elements and flows while understanding business requirements. - Consider user feedback as an essential aspect of user experience design. - Design input controls, navigational components, and informational components. - Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups. - Translate requirements into style guides, design systems, and design patterns. - Create original graphics such as icons, avatars, illustrations, sketches, images, and motion graphics - Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g., responsiveness) - Gather customer feedback, usage metrics, and usability findings and incorporate any required improvement into design to ensure productive and pleasant user experience - Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, clients, and development teams
Qualifications/special skills Skills: The incumbent is required to possess a solid understanding of user experience design and the following skills: - Maintains a verifiable project portfolio where the incumbent has personally worked. - Proficient in design / prototyping tools including Figma, InVision and Sketch. - Keen on aesthetics, minimalistic design, and attention to detail. - Collaborates effectively and efficiently with diverse teams. - Adaptive to work as a shared resource.
The incumbent is expected to work with Figma and Adobe ecosystem in general and Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop in particular. Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Multimedia or a diploma / degree in Graphic Design and Visual Arts or a verifiable experience of working as UI/UX designer in a reputable institution for at least 3 years. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in UX design. In the event the candidate meets academic qualification, only 1 (one) year of work experience as UX designer may be taken into consideration as a substitute of academic qualification. Language: Fluency in English is required
