How can you make a difference?

Key functions, accountabilities, and related tasks:

Under the supervision of the Administrative Officer (P-2) in the Travel Hub, Operations Section, the Travel Associates (GS-6) will administer authorized international and entitlement travels (such as official missions, appointment, reassignment, separation/repatriation, home leave, family visit, education grant travels) of UNICEF offices worldwide. In compliance with UNICEF`s policies, this will include the posting of travel authorizations, verification of itineraries and ticket costs as well as the examination, processing of travel claims prior to final settlement, when needed.

The position will support offices in different time zones; therefore, the incumbent should be able to embrace working in rotating shifts (this might include Day Shifts from 08:30 – 17:30; Evening Shifts from 14:00 – 23:00 and Night Shifts from 23:00-7:00 if required) as well as weekends and holidays, for which internal compensatory mechanisms are in place.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completed secondary education (i.e. high school diploma). University level degree in business administration is desirable.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in the international travel industry, operations, administration, or logistics is required. At least one (1) year of experience in travel management is required. A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted as 4 years’ experience and will be counted work experience requirements (for fully completed degrees only).
  • Experience in international travel administration, operations, administration or logistics is required.
  • IT skills and working knowledge in the Microsoft Suite of Products (including MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint) is required.
  • Experience in UNICEF/UN Travel Units, knowledge of the UN`s / UNICEF'S rules, regulations and procedures is desirable.
  • Experience using global distribution systems (i.e., SABRE, Amadeus etc.) is an asset.

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

General Service (GS) staff are locally recruited staff and therefore, candidates are personally responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements. UNICEF does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff.
