Overview:

WRI-****China Sustainable Transition Center is seeking an analytical and results-oriented Research Analyst for the “NDC Transport Initiative for Asia” project****.

The major responsibility of the Research Assistant****/****Analyst is to conduct research to inform policy making and pilot projects to mitigate GHG emissions and air pollutions from the transport sector. The successful candidate will join a team that will work in a multidisciplinary platform in WRI, with governmental agencies and think tanks to (i) produce research, tools, and models to support policy-making; (ii) strengthen capacity for addressing transportation problems in China and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis on transportation decarbonization policies, technical solutions, and on-the-ground projects.
  • Review international experiences in transportation decarbonization options and analyze their applicability to Chinese cities
  • Support to develop practical tools, policies, and guidelines on transportation decarbonization for cities, provinces, and countries
  • Help organize external events, workshops, conferences, and other project dissemination activities. Schedule and set up internal meetings and take/circulate meeting notes and track follow-up as necessary.
  • Assist in some project and grant management work as needed
  • Assist to produce, proofread, and edit research reports, press releases, blogs, and papers in both English and Chinese.
  • Support other activities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree (preferably in transportation planning/policy/engineering, urban planning/studies, or related fields) with an excellent academic record.
  • 1-2 years work experience in the transportation field, experience in transportation climate planning would be a plus.
  • Excellent in oral and written Chinese and English, and outstanding communication skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical, writing, and presentation skills, preferably with publication experience.
  • Quicker learner and can take initiative to deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and to concentrate on field work as needed.

F****inal candidate will be required to take a writing test.

Direct supervisor: China Urban Mobility Manager

Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous, comprehensive benefits package
