Result of Service Producing a 100% accurate translation. Content accuracy includes detailed comparison of content, facts and figures and making sure there are no omissions from the source; translations and proof-reading of footnotes and/or endnotes, captions under photographs, Lists, etc.; accurate and consistent usage of UN terminology adapted to Nepali/English. Ensuring quality check and proof-reading of translation; ensuring that the translation text is technically, linguistically, and grammatically correct, error free. Translation should meet high quality standards and would not need further editing after completion of translation.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations County Team (UNCT) in Nepal is currently in the process of preparing the Cooperation Framework (CF) for the period 2023-2027. General Assembly resolution 72/279 elevates the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (now renamed the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework- UNSDCF) as “the most important instrument for planning and implementation of the UN development activities at country level in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda)”. Given the ambition of the 2030 Agenda and the urgency of its timeline, the resolution represents a significant shift. The Cooperation Framework now guides the entire programme cycle, driving planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of collective UN support for achieving the 2030 Agenda. The Cooperation Framework determines and reflects the UN development system’s contributions in the country and shapes the configuration of UN assets required inside and outside the country.

The Resident Coordinator Office in Nepal is also instrumental in delivering humanitarian support ensuring collaborations among various partners, delivering one voice and actions to the government of Nepal, development partners and other stakeholders.

Therefore, The Resident Coordinator Office in Nepal seeking experienced national individual contractor with capable of translation service in both Nepali and English.

Qualifications/special skills Bachelor’s Degree in English/Nepali, Sociology, Development Studies, Economics, Gender Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Human Rights, Law and Journalism or any other field. Minimum 5 years of full-time working experience in translation, research, editing, and report writing.
