Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

UNDP helps countries anticipate, prevent, respond to, and recover from crises, every day, and in every development context. As the world experiences rising violent conflict, the impacts of the climate crisis, deepening mistrust in institutions, and the sharpest drop in human development in decades, we are stepping up our Crisis Offer.

The SOP for Crisis Response & Recovery, formerly called the Immediate Crisis Response SOP, has been updated to better align with UNDP's Crisis Offer. The SOP for Crisis Response and Recovery aims to provide a robust institutional and operational framework so that critical decisions and actions can be taken quickly in response to crisis situations at country, regional or global level. The SOP also aims to ensure a transparent and fast process for Country Offices to request and receive critical corporate assistance to respond to a crisis and initiate early recovery activities. The SOP not only regulates UNDP’s engagement in response and recovery contexts, but also defines our approach to crisis anticipation and/ or prevention as well as our support mechanism in protracted and fragile settings.

The Supplementary Protocols for Crisis Contexts complement the updated SOP to address crisis more holistically at an organizational level and are published as a related policy. The Supplementary Protocols were developed through distilling lessons from 17 UNDP priority countries over the past 18 months, guiding UNDP’s response in Anticipate & Prevent settings and in Fragile & Protracted contexts. The protocols are fully aligned with UNDP’s Enterprise Risk Management policy.

We are seeking 2 Online Volunteers to support us by translating UNDP Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Crisis Response & Recovery and Supplementary Protocols from English to Spanish.

To this end, one Online Volunteer (translator) is expected to: - Translate the documents, which have a combined length of 55 pages, into Spanish. - Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience.

Another volunteer (proofreader) is expected to: - Proofread the translated documents to ensure accuracy. - Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience.

The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.

The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Country Support Management Team at the UNDP Crisis Bureau and gain insights into how the translated product enhances the institution's strong framework, facilitating the rapid implementation of critical decisions and actions in response to crises at the country, regional, or global level.
