This assignment will be part of OHCHR’s Thematic Engagement, Special Procedures and Right to Development Division (TESPRDD). It develops methodology and policies relating to human rights work, namely translating international human rights law and principles into practical methods, approaches, standards, procedures and tools for the human rights work that is being carried out by OHCHR and other UN, international and national actors. TESPRDD promotes the integration of human rights into all policy, management and operational work of the UN in order to strengthen the overall normative and operational linkages. It contributes to increased knowledge and understanding of human rights through education and training, the development of materials, policies, methodologies and programmes and the provision of training, advice and coordination. TESPRDD supports the international human rights mechanisms, in particular the Special Procedures, and provides substantive input and organizational assistance to the HRC; and it takes the lead with respect to ensuring that a “gender perspective is effectively integrated into all OHCHR policies, programmes and processes” and contributes to the enhancement of staff skills in this regard.
