The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) serves as the United Nations’ regional hub promoting cooperation among countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. The largest regional intergovernmental platform with 53 Member States and 9 associate members, ESCAP has emerged as a strong regional think-tank offering countries sound analytical products that shed insight into the evolving economic, social and environmental dynamics of the region. This Online Volunteer assignment is part of ESCAP’s Macroeconomic Policy and Financing for Development Division. With the recent launch of ESCAP’s Economic and Social Survey 2022, a promotional video was made to enhance the accessibility of the publication.

The Online Volunteer has a great role to play in the spreading of these important policy messages, by making them accessible in Nepali.

ESCAP's annual flagship publication, the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, was recently released, and with it a 5-minute promotional animated video. To increase the reach of the video, we call upon a team of Online Volunteers to translate the subtitles (about 650 words), to the video in several regional Asian languages, including Nepali, Persian/Farsi, Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and more

In this specific task, we are looking for translation from English to Nepali. We require English fluency as well as 2-3 years of prior experience with translation. We will test shortlisted candidates with a short document in English and ask them to translate it.

Educational experience: bachelor’s in translation and interpretation, communication, English, or related fields is recommended.
