Translate technical documents for a climate project in Timor-Leste

You have:

• Native in Tetum and fluent in English required.
• Familiarity with technical terms related to infrastructure, rural roads, irrigation, and water supply schemes is preferred.

Government of Timor-Leste (GoTL) with the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) received funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to implement the “Safeguarding rural communities and their physical assets from climate induced disasters in Timor-Leste” project from 2020 to 2026.

The online volunteers will support the project in translation of highly key project documents related to the infrastructure activities undertaken in the project under the guidance of Project Support Coordinator and Supervision of Gender and Social Safeguarding Officer of UNDP Project management Unit for GCF Project.

Online volunteers will also receive feedback on their quality of work, certificate of appreciation upon successful completion of the assignment and will be given credit of support where applicable.

UNDP – GCF Project Office is seeking to collaborate with Online Volunteers to support us by translating the ESIA & ESMP Documents for Irrigation System, Rural Roads and Water Supply Schemes from English to Tetum.

To this end the Online Volunteers are asked: - To translate 3 documents (1 document by 1 volunteer), which is about 250 pages long into Tetum. - Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience. - Ensure the technical wordings and the overall meaning of the wording and sentence structure of the document is aligned well when translated.

The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed by the PMU staff of the above mentioned project.

Candidates should be native in Tetum and fluent in English. Familiarity with technical terms related to infrastructure of rural road, irrigation channels and water supply schemes will be considered an advantage. Previous translation experience is considered an asset. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Excellent communication and collaboration skills

A one-paragraph translation will be requested as part of the selection process.
