UN in Sri Lanka website is primarily in English. The website is important entry point in showcasing the UN work in the country, and the language translations will enable the Sri Lankans to understand the work of the organization and on SDGs more. The English text is already translated to Tamil and the UNRCO Communications unit needs the text to be reviewed to overcome any language errors. Work of the online volunteers will enable the local Tamil speaking Sri Lankan to understand the UN contribution towards achieving SDGs.
We are seeking 2 Online Volunteers to support us by reviewing the translated UNSL web content on various topics from English to Tamil. To this end the Online Volunteers are asked: - To review the translated the document, which is 60 pages long in English - Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience
The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and the translated version will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.
Candidates should be native in Tamil and fluent in English. Familiarity with technical terms related to the UN and SDGs will be considered an advantage. Previous translation experience is considered an asset.
