Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

This UNV assignment will be part of OHCHR’s Field Operations and Technical Cooperation Division (FOTCD). FOTCD coordinates the development and implementation of OHCHR’s country engagement strategies. The Division leads and coordinates the provision of substantive and operational support worldwide, including to human rights field presences, through identifying human rights challenges and opportunities in given country contexts, including key gaps, areas for engagement and strategies to address these, in close cooperation with national, regional and international partners. As OHCHR’s operational arm, the Division is called upon to react promptly to human rights crisis situations through, for instance, supporting the establishment and deployment of Commissions of Inquiry, fact-finding missions and monitoring missions, as well as responding to humanitarian crises. The Division also supports the management and operationalization of the Voluntary Fund for Technical Cooperation and acts as a Secretariat of its Board of Trustees.

Specifically, a donor has requested a project proposal to be submitted in Spanish. The proposal is based on the work of OHCHR in a country in Latin America, and outlines the ways in which OHCHR contributes to reducing inequality (SDG 10).

OHCHR is looking for one online volunteer to help translate a project proposal from English to Spanish.

The text to be translated is approximately 5 pages long.

Candidates should be native in Spanish and fluent in English. Familiarity with technical terms related to human rights will be considered an advantage.

A one-paragraph translation may be requested as part of the selection process.
