Overview

Assist in transcribing interviews in Spanish and English.

You have:

  • Fluency in Spanish – mandatory
  • Fluency in English – mandatory
  • Independent internet and laptop access – mandatory
  • Experience in interview’s transcription – highly desirable
  • Knowledge of social protection – highly desirable
  • Language, translation and communication background – highly desirable
  • Knowledge of any other languages spoken in LAC is an asset.

The IPC-IG research team is holding key informant interviews with Governments’ representatives in Latin America and the Caribbean in order to collect information and analyse the capacity of social protection responses against COVID-19 to benefit rural populations and agricultural workers. To help in this process, the IPC-IG is looking for online volunteers to provide support with interviews' transcription. In collaboration with IPC-IG's researchers, the selected candidates will: (i) transcribe interviews in Spanish, (ii) transcribe interviews in English, (iii) review texts and transcriptions.

    IPC-IG resulted from an agreement between the United Nations Development Programme and the Brazilian Government to facilitate South-South Cooperation on key development issues. Its mandate is to promote the production and dissemination of studies and policy recommendations, the exchange of best practices in development initiatives and the expansion of South-South cooperation. In collaboration with FAO-RLC, the IPC-IG is developing a project on the analysis of the response to COVID-19 in rural areas and recommendations to build back better rural societies and economies in Latin America and the Caribbean. Online volunteers will work remotely, mostly at a time of their convenience, and subjected to the deadlines set. They will receive a certificate of appreciation and can be acknowledged in the final publication of document as feasible.

  • 11-20 hours per week / 5 weeks

    Fluency in Spanish – mandatory; Fluency in English – mandatory; Independent internet and laptop access – mandatory; Experience in interview’s transcription – highly desirable; Knowledge of social protection – highly desirable.
