ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

In 2018, WFP re-established its presence in the Caribbean with an office in Barbados. The WFP Caribbean Multi-Country Office (MCO) supports 22 countries and territories across the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. WFP Caribbean’s capacity strengthening programme focuses on vulnerability analysis and mapping; end-to-end supply chain management; shock-responsive social protection; food systems strengthening; and climate risk financing. In times of crisis, WFP works with partners to provide direct assistance when events surpass national and regional capacities by delivering food, cash or voucher assistance, or through emergency logistics or emergency telecommunications service provision.

As a part of this process WFP will be working to deliver workshops, training materials, face to face and virtual engagements with our key stakeholders and other humanitarian entities in the region and internationally.

JOB PURPOSE

To build, develop, and deliver state of the art learning engagements and learning exercises, trainings, workshops, and online events. Develop social media, newspaper, radio, and television exerts on emergency relief, unsolicited goods, best practices with heavy engagement and collaboration from WFP Caribbean’s partners in the region.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Engage local and regional counterparts including CDEMA, participating states and other key stakeholders.
  2. Performing a knowledge gap analysis throughout the region and identify opportunities for engagement.
  3. Prioritize WFP’s engagement throughout the region, both in terms of the countries and the subjects (lines of effort).
  4. Creating awareness of WFP’s strengthen and areas of support of capacity strengthening and response with stakeholders.
  5. Document reports to ensure the operations are in line with WFP procedures and best practice.
  6. Deliver inputs and outputs and strategic plans in the MCSP 2022-2026.
  7. Monitor supply chain activities under the sub-unit and ensure internal controls are in place and is followed to guarantee efficient use of resources.
  8. Guide, supervise, inspire and motivate staff and partners.
  9. Provide mentorship to the unit staff.
  10. Coordinate with team leads, to ensure information follows (down and across the supply chain unit).
  11. Develop innovative ways and means of engaging key stakeholders and partners.
  12. Staying abreast of the latest trends and developments on hybrid remote working and benchmarking in training/ industry best practices.
  13. Manage risk.
  14. Other as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field with 1 year of professional related experience, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience: Minimum two or more years of relevant professional work experience in postgraduate professional experience.

Language: Fluent in English

  • Able to delegate.
  • Experienced working in or with Caribbean institution (governments, humanitarian response sectors).
  • Experienced in presenting at a senior and lower-level complex ideas.
  • Excellent in communication and well articulate professional (mainly in written and verbal).
  • Competent in media and technology with knowledge in marketing.
  • Experienced with budgeting and work planning (advising and implementing a work plan).
  • Knowledge and experience with providing inputs and output and measuring success.
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills.
  • Good understanding of supply chain and logistics.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Who Can Apply?

  • This position is open to nationals of Barbados and CARICOM member states and associate members. CARICOM Nationals applying for National position outside of their home country bear sole responsibility for required actions or expenses related to relocation, accommodation, repatriation and any other living expenses, etc. A CARICOM Skilled National Certificate is a pre-requisite of employment for successful candidates who are not from the country for which the position is advertised.

Employment Particulars

  • Type of position: Short-Term, Full Time
  • Type of Contact: Service Contract, level 9 (SC 9)
  • Duration on Contract: 12 months with the possibility of extension based on organisational requirements.
  • Duty Station: Barbados
  • Travel Requirements: The WFP Caribbean Office cover the 22 English and Dutch speaking Caribbean countries. The selected candidate may be required to travel from time to time, both regionally and internationally, to support missions, emergency responses, training etc. As such, medical clearance is required.
  • Remuneration: The starting salary for this position is BBD $ 8150.49 p/month
