ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP Caribbean Multi-Country Office, with its technical support office based in Barbados, supports the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Participating States (PSs), 22 English and Dutch-speaking islands of the Caribbean in areas of Risk Mitigation, Capacity Building, Emergency Response, Communications, and Food Security.

WFP Caribbean is delivering workshops, training materials, face to face and virtual engagements with our key stakeholders and other humanitarian entities in the region and internationally. WFP Caribbean has developed new methods and strategies around the transfer of skills, knowledge transfer, and learning.

WFP is looking for a strategist to develop the best methods, who to engage, and the methods to use to best develop and deliver training. Someone with the skills to deliver the above and to know who and how to engage other institutions/vendors / SMEs, private sector specialists, and how to write up RFQs to get the best support, fit for purpose at the best price.

JOB PURPOSE

To build a strategy around developing, finding / using the best methods, and delivering state of the art learning engagements and learning exercises, trainings, workshops, and online events.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Engage local and regional counterparts including CEDEMA, UWI, participating states, and other key stakeholders.
  2. Performing a knowledge gap analysis throughout the region and identifying opportunities for engagement.
  3. Prioritize WFP’s engagement throughout the region, both in terms of the countries and the subjects (lines of effort).
  4. Prepare, and engage vendors where necessary, to build on and deliver training on a national and regional level.
  5. Deliver a transfer of knowledge and skills to WFPs partners and stakeholders.
  6. Evaluate the effectiveness of the training and respond to learning needs (improvement).
  7. Actively seek feedback to continuously develop workshops/training.
  8. Build a strategy around capacity strengthening and engaging, integrating, and collaborating relationships with WFPs MCSP partners and stakeholders.
  9. Creating awareness of WFP and strengthening areas of support of capacity strengthening and response with stakeholders.
  10. Document reports ensuring the operations are in line with WFP procedures and best practices.
  11. Deliver inputs and outputs and strategic plans in the MCSP 2022-2026.
  12. Monitor supply chain activities under the sub-unit and ensure internal controls are in place and is followed to guarantee efficient use of resources.
  13. Guide, supervise, inspire, and motivate staff and partners.
  14. Coordinate with team leads, to ensure information follows (down and across the supply chain unit).
  15. Develop innovative ways and means of engaging key stakeholders and partners.
  16. Staying abreast of the latest trends and developments on hybrid remote working and benchmarking in training/ industry best practices.
  17. Manage risk.
  18. Other as required

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional related experience in the development and delivery of training/courses/simulations. Proof of experience/education in building and delivery of complex multifaceted training and methodology. A proven track record of strategies and engagements in the complex theatre of training and simulations.

Experience: Minimum three years of relevant professional work experience in postgraduate professional experience.

Language: Fluent in English

  • Experience in supervising and leading a diverse team of 3 or more people.

  • Strong excel, literary, and report writing experience.
  • Able to delegate
  • Experienced working in the Caribbean institutions (governments, humanitarian response sectors).
  • Experienced in presenting to senior and lower-level complex idea.
  • Excellent in communication and well articulate professional (mainly in written and verbal).
  • Competent in media and technology with knowledge in marketing.
  • Experienced with budgeting and work planning (advising and implementing a work plan)
  • Knowledge and experience with providing inputs and output and measuring success.
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Good understanding of supply chain and logistics
  • Previous experience in developing inputs and output and measuring success with project management skills.
  • Experience in SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) and LMS (Learning Management Systems), gamification, animation skills, and other new learning options.
  • Competent in media and technology.
  • Experienced leader who drives forward the training objectives and enthuses their audience.
  • Familiar with industry trends and innovations.
  • Excellent inspirational and motivational trainer.

The World Food Programme Caribbean Multi-Country Office (CMCO) is seeking a Traning Strategist and Developer (Team Lead) Consultant for 11 months with the possibility of extension.
