You have:
- Bachelor's degree in the area related to the Security Sector, Border Management, Education, or International Relations
- At least 1 year of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in related fields
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in Tajik
- Strong oral and written skills; excellent drafting and reporting skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Solid overall computer literacy, including MS Office proficiency
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the BMP Project Manager or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Training and Market Development Assistant will:
- Study the project’s training programme and syllabus for the border agencies; provide input and support to relevant personnel to improve the training programme.
- Assist the project’s National Training and Liaison officer in organization and conducting training and educational activities on Integrated Border Management, cross-border cooperation, and related subjects, including provision of innovative solutions for conducting training in a challenging and restrictive environment (i.e. due to Covid-19 issue).
- Assist the project team in assessing cross-border trade between Tajikistan and Afghanistan at the cross-border markets, and provide consultative input and support in enhancing cross-border markets.
- Cooperate with relevant project personnel to analyze BMPs synergies with the Livelihoods Improvement in Tajik-Afghan Cross-Border Areas (LITACA) project, and assist in improving coordination and synergies between the two projects.
- Support project personnel in development of knowledge and learning materials for border agencies and border-adjacent community members on improving cross-border cooperation with neighboring countries.
- Study international best practices in the fields related to Border Management through both online and offline research and provide inputs into the project’s infrastructure, equipment supply, training and cross-border trade components.
- Join project’s field missions wherever possible for acquaintance with field activities and provision of the on-the-site support as needed.
- Support relevant project staff by drafting, proof reading, and editing communication materials, reports, knowledge and learning materials, press releases, etc.
- Assist project team in undertaking logistical tasks, such as acceptance, inspection and handover of specialized border management equipment to project beneficiaries.
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
