The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has opened the recruitment process for a Trainer/Mentor (with Local salary scale) of the Trainer within the Project “Support to refugee and migrant children and their families in Serbia” that Danish Refugee Council is implementing as a partner of United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Position: Trainer/Mentor

Period of engagement: up to 24 consultancy days in the period of 1 year

Basic functions: The Trainer/Mentor is a qualified nurse who is experienced in child health, health promotion, public health and early childhood education. She will have a main task to facilitate tailored early childhood development workshops and counselling with parents from the refugee/asylum seeker/migrant population as well as with parents from Ukraine accommodated in the Asylum Centers Krnjaca and Vranje and in the Reception Center Sid related to health, nutrition and ECD.

Reference: The Trainer/Mentor refers to the Head of Programme and works in close cooperation with the Project staff.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • To facilitate tailored early childhood development workshops.
  • To train Nurses on facilitation of tailored early childhood development workshops
  • To give a basic breastfeeding information to nurses from Local Health Centers who are visiting Asylum/Reception Centers in order to support a new mother
  • To teach nurses how to help mothers to prevent and handle common breastfeeding concerns;
  • Take into account Covid-19 pandemic, including associated restrictions and recommendations coming from relevant authorities when designing and implementing activities, ensuring PoCs and personal safety;
  • Contributing and supporting effective monitoring, evaluation and learning processes and initiatives, ensure effective data and information management and contribute to regular reporting on protection activities;
  • Other duties assigned by the Head of Programme.

Qualifications & experience required

  • Bachelor in Science of Nursing
  • Experience on refugee/migration related issues

Skills and Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in working with the refugee/displacement programs, with focus on Early Childhood Development;
  • Experience in supervision and training others in a team setting
  • Understanding the psychosocial support needs of refugees in refugee camp

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Type of contract: National post with Serbian citizenship or fully regulated residence and working permit in Serbia
  • Start date: October 2022
  • Duty station: Belgrade with traveling within Serbia (including Sid and Vranje)
