What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

The post holder will work in the Communication Analytics unit and provide support to the team on research related tasks. Specifically, he/she is in charge of supporting a range of research services, such as campaign impact testing, audience profiling, brand studies and opinion polls. The Post holder must also be familiar with research methodology, survey design, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and ideally have basic knowledge of digital platforms and marketing. Located in Geneva, he/she collaborates closely with Researchers and Communication Officers in other ICRC locations globally and with external partners.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

Audience Intelligence:

  • Identify current trends in audience intelligence analysis
  • Analyse and compare audience profiling outcomes across channels and products
  • Survey development and analysis
  • Dissemination of research and analytical results

Measurement and research:

  • KPI development across a range of communication and marketing activities
  • Survey and research approach development
  • Impact assessments
  • Coordination of research activities
  • Develop reporting
  • Dissemination of research and analytical results

Certifications / Education required

Study in research methods, data science and analytics, digital communication, digital marketing, or in other related field

Professional Experience required

Candidates must have maximum of two years’ working experience, of which a maximum one year in a full-time paid position after the completion of their studies.

Desired profile and skills

Your technical skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of research and analytical methods
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties
  • Good skills in excel, power point, and online team coordination tools, tool such as R, SPSS, STATA, GEPHI
  • Ability to learn fast
  • Fluent in English, French is advantage
  • A great sense of communication and sharing of knowledge
  • Ability to communicate clearly both in written and verbal forms

  • Proficient and enthusiastic about research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, with strong analytical skills and statistical knowledge
