You have:
- University degree in Agricultural Sciences or Human Sciences
- Minimum experience of 5 years in public policy making, social development or family farming
- Working knowledge of English and Portuguese
- National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit
Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
Prepare a technical study on the impacts of Traditional Agricultural Systems (SATs) in the national territory through the mapping of social determinants of health, including food security, indicating the gaps that require direct action of the relevant public policies.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Conducting an advanced review of national and international literature on traditional agricultural systems with the identification of relevant public policies; • Preparation of diagnoses for the preparation of analytical reports on the distribution of Traditional Agricultural Systems (SATs) in the Brazilian territory and on the social and nutritional impact of the organization of the SAT; • Visits to Traditional Agricultural Systems established with international recognition as Important World Agricultural Heritage Systems • Research data on the impact of Traditional Agricultural Systems (SATs); • Map national and international experiences of reference; • Production of reports on Traditional Agricultural Systems (SATs) in Brazil.
