Overview

You have:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes, project management, or related area is required.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills are required.
  • Substantive work experience in international trade and development matters, including economic analysis, research and writing, is desirable.
  • Fluency oral and written in English is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief of the Office of the Director, Division on Technology and Logistics, the consultant will: - ASYCUDA • Assist and support in the drafting, editing, and proofreading of various outputs of the Programme, Annual Report, Op-eds, news articles • Compile, edit and update existing information material related to the ASYCUDA Programme's work to develop high impact communication material to be used with member States, donors, journalists, and the general public. • Contribute to and continue the social media outreach of the ASYCUDA Programme to communicate the ongoing work both internally and externally. • Revise and edit all Reports, official communication, and relevant outreach material for accuracy, wording, and overall clarity. - Economic and/or sector analysis: • Support in undertaking research and policy analysis on trade, technology and development issues, especially related to trade facilitation, value chains, trade logistics, e-commerce, women economic empowerment and the global development agenda, amongst other topics. • Prepare the inputs into briefing notes and speeches for the Director and contribute to reviewing and enhancing the communication documents of the Division. • Support the undertaking specific analysis on funders and donor relationships, in particular with the European Union development cooperation, external actions, and trade policies. • Provide substantive and logistical backstopping as required for effective implementation of technical assistance activities, capacity-building efforts, research, and intergovernmental machinery for the Division. • Attend, service, and summarize conferences, webinars and meetings related to the Division’s affairs. - Intergovernmental Support: • Prepares inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies. • Follow intergovernmental meetings and prepares summary reports. • Prepare inputs to statements by members of the Bureau and Secretariat staff to such meetings. • Organize the panels, round tables, etc. on development issues for intergovernmental processes. - General: • Assists in drafting the Divisional work plans and programmes/projects evaluation. • Performs other related duties as required, including a variety of administrative tasks necessary for the final delivery of the work unit’s services. • Undertakes on-the-job and other training activities, both internally and externally.
