Overview

Oversee multi-country communication strategy for partnerships

You have:

  • Advanced university degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Social Sciences, Arts, or related fields.
  • Minimum of five years progressive experience in Sales, Marketing, Fundraising, Communications, Public Relations, Account Management or Advertising is required.
  • At least two years of experience at international level is desirable.
  • Strong project management experience working across cross-functional environments is desired.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in another UN language is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to write press releases and develop communication plans is required.
  • Familiarity with social media as a marketing tool is a requirement.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision is required.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF and its systems and ways of working is an advantage.

UNICEF’s private sector fundraising programme is growing at a tremendous pace. In the past year, seven out every 10 partnerships signed were multi-country alliances, where UNICEF and partners were seeking to gain visibility across a number of markets to raise their public profiles.

UNICEF is looking for (3) three individual contractors to oversee its multi-country communication strategy for donor communication and visibility for its business partnerships.

How can you make a difference?

Under the general guidance of the Communication Manager (Partnership Support) and working closely with team leads within the Communication for Partnerships team, the (3) three roles will focus on communication support for multi-country and global partnerships. The work includes communication support for new and ongoing partnerships such as multi-country coordination for communication planning, developing communication assets and materials, and driving the rollout and implementation of these communication assets across markets around the world.

MAIN TASKS

The (3) three Partnership Communication specialists will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  1. Driving the coordination between national committees, country offices and partners for communication planning and implementation for multi-country partnerships.

  2. Developing communication plans, communication assets and materials e.g., press releases, social media assets, key messages, Q&A documents, and the like for these multi-country partnerships, in close collaboration with communication focal points from relevant national committees, regional and country offices.

  3. Overseeing the implementation of agreed communication plans and activities across countries, ensuring global, regional, and national office level alignment between UNICEF and partners.

  4. Participating in meetings to facilitate general alignment across workstreams and offices at the global, regional, and national levels.

  5. Performing other related tasks which may be assigned by the team.

DELIVERABLES

  1. Develop communication parameters including opportunities and risk mitigation strategies for engagement of up to 20 partnerships.

  2. Steward the development and implementation of all communication plans/packages (i.e., develop or review press releases, social media, and multi-media materials, Q&As any other related communication materials) for partnership launches and activations during key moments throughout the year for up to 20 partnerships.

  3. Review and provide feedback to communication clauses in new partnership contracts for up to 20 new partnerships and up to 10 renewals.

  4. Host biweekly coordination meetings with key markets in order to provide communications guidance, resources, and approvals.

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Social Sciences, Arts, or related fields. A first-level university degree, in combination with qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years progressive experience in the following fields: Sales, Marketing, Fundraising, Communications, Public Relations, Account/Client Management or Advertising is required.

  • At least two years of experience at international level is desirable. Previous regional or country office experience is an asset.

  • Strong project management experience working across cross-functional environments is desired.
  • Strong experience in working with a diverse group of stakeholders, across cross-cultural markets is an advantage.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in another UN language is an advantage

Others:

  • Demonstrated ability to write press releases, develop communication plans and familiarity with social media as a marketing tool are requirements.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision is required.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Familiarity with UNICEF and its systems and ways of working is an advantage.
