This tasks requires volunteers who are interested in an in-depth opportunity for engagement with a UNEP project. Online Volunteers will work together to research and produce information regarding certain thematic areas (physical/cultural geography, natural hazards, biodiversity, fisheries, forests, agriculture, SDGs, land tenure, etc) regarding natural resource management in a specific area in the Pacific Region. Online Volunteers will be expected to produce a concise 10-20 page document (well-referenced and with graphics) to give an overview of their assigned topic. There is no specific working schedule to be kept, however weekly or bi-weekly updates will be expected via email or video call. Volunteers will be asked to provide evidence of previous writing or research skills during the shortlisting process.

    The aim of this project is to enhance the capacity to make informed decisions on sustainable economic pathways for an environmentally- and economically-secure, independent small island state. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the work will prioritize remote environmental assessment and desk research, minimizing the time required in the field. This will be compiled into a report and published on the web. Online Volunteers will receive credit for their contributions.

  • 6-10 hours per week / 6 weeks

    Candidates must have strong research and referencing skills (recent graduates/students welcomed). A good internet connection and access to Google Drive is required. Willingness to work in a team and communicate regularly is essential. Candidates with experience in: GIS, Adobe CC, qualitative research, journalism are particularly welcome. In their applications, candidates must indicate their area of interest or expertise regarding the terms of reference.
