Testing and Analysis of UNDP’s SEAS Tool- Socio Economic Analysis of Subsidies

UNDP, in collaboration with Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), is in the final stages of development of a web-based tool called SEAS (Socio Economic Analysis of Subsidies) that will allow users to simulate the socio-economic impacts of subsidy reforms. The current version of this tool needs to be tested rigorously before the official launch in August-September 2021. The main tasks of the Online Volunteer will include: i) Collate household survey datasets - The Online Volunteer will work the UNDP focal point in gathering nationally representative household surveys for 4-5 countries. These datasets will have to be cleaned and modified into the format that is suitable for the analysis, ii) Test result - The Online Volunteer will simulate multiple scenarios of subsidy reforms using the above data and validate the results along with the UNDP focal point and colleagues from the PEP team.

The Online Volunteer’s contributions will be crucial for the timely launch of the SEAS tool in late August or early September 2021. The testing phase will be important in uncovering potential bugs in the current version and for suggesting improvements. The Online Volunteer's contributions will also be important to create demos of the tool for webinars and presentations. The SEAS tool is part of UNDP’s global subsidy reform offer which aims to engage UNDP Country Offices and their respective governments in subsidy reform and reallocation conversations.

6-10 hours per week / 8 weeks
Familiarity with online data collection, microeconomic analysis of subsidies; Intermediate proficiency in STATA, R, Python or any other statistical packages; Basic familiarity with solution testing and user-acceptance testing.
