We are a world leader in making markets work for the poor as well as the longest-established market development specialist NGO in Bangladesh. iDE believes that markets can be a powerful force for improving smallholder prosperity by creating income and livelihood opportunities for poor rural households. iDE Bangladesh currently has eight projects in Agricultural Markets, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Access to Finance with a focus on women’s economic empowerment and climate-smart technologies.

iDE is looking for a qualified Technical Specialist-Communications for the TLTN Project. This role requires an energetic and detail-oriented person who can manage multiple tasks. This individual is a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit, is willing to learn, and can manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities.

This individual will assist with communications tasks including, but not limited to: high-quality graphic design, writing and editing, photo and video production and editing, social media content management, basic video editing, maintaining and fostering social media publication, media relations, digital asset management, event coordination, case story collection, archiving and managing knowledge products and other support tasks as assigned by project lead.

Reporting Line: Project Manager-TLTN Project

Contract Duration: Up to May 2025, possibility of extension

The responsibilities of the Technical Specialist-Communications will include but are not limited to the descriptions below-

Key roles and responsibilities:

● Develop and oversee the implementation of an annual communications and knowledge management strategy

● The strategy should include a “learning agenda” and should be developed in coordination and consultation with appropriate Project Managers

● Assess current knowledge management practices followed by iDE in Bangladesh and globally

● Review what has been developed to date, and develop a digital inventory of existing KM products

● Develop specific knowledge products for the identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned

● Actively and openly engage with Project Managers, Private Sector Partners and Technical Specialists to strengthen sector strategy

● Proactively engage with the various project teams to resolve challenges related to communications and knowledge management.

● Collaboratively plan and implement project activities through the preparation of multiyear and annual work plan in collaboration with Project Managers and field team

● Maintain a communications calendar with key events, dates, and deadlines throughout the year.

● Conduct regular evaluations of communications and knowledge management outcomes, and adjust the strategy as needed

● Facilitate and frame the strategic direction of the project in collaboration with Project Managers

● Assist the Field Team Leader and Field Technical Specialist in planning and implementation of communication and knowledge management strategy

Photo, Video and Graphics

● Edit and format photos and videos for digital media, adhering to IDE guidelines using Canva or Adobe products, including but not limited to Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.

● Fluent Photography and videography skills to conduct training and take photos/videos in events and field

● Digital asset management, including cameras and any other equipment

● Archiving all digital knowledge products

● Working knowledge of G suite and its various applications

Knowledge Management

● Coordinate with project team to write, format and compile success stories, project and organizational report

● Write Photo captions

● Copy editing

● Develop Press releases and media advisories

● Archive iDE Knowledge products

Social Media

● Promote iDE projects and organizational content & media coverage on iDE’s Social Media channels

● Create and coordinate content for social media campaigns and observances

● Source content from staff around the country and at events.

● Social media planning, research, reporting, and coordination as assigned

Events

● Promote iDE by organizing and supporting various events

● Facilitate the enlistment of vendors and coordinate in organizing said events

● Design content and graphics for events

● Promote events externally and internally through various channels

Media Relations

● Compile and update media contact lists

● Identify and research opportunities to share iDE stories with relevant journalists and media outlets

● Press release/media advisory writing, editing, distribution, and media outreach

● Media interview scheduling and coordination of photo/video shoots

General Organizational and Administrative Support

● Attend and participate in meetings as required

● Format PowerPoint presentation template for other units as needed

● Report preparation for meetings and presentations

● Event planning and coordination

Requirements

A successful Technical Specialist- Communications will have the following skills and experience and will be comfortable with the following conditions.

Education

● Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.

Work Experience

● At least 4 years’ relevant experience in a communications role

● Experience working at an INGO/NGO will get preference

Technical Skills

● Proven capacity of using graphic design and video editing software (Illustrator/Photoshop/After Effects/Canva)

● Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.

Personal Skills

● Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

● Self-motivated, energetic and team player

● Sound analytical and problem-solving skills

● Good time management and organizational skills.

● Ability to work with various national and international team members and flexibility to adapt to different work conditions, and remote rural settings

Physical and Language Skills

● Ability to travel and undertake fieldwork in rural context

● Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla including ability to present coherent and convincing messages to different audiences
