OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The mission of WHO's Health Emergencies Programme (The Programme) is to help countries, and to coordinator international action, to prevent, prepare for, detect, rapidly respond to, and recover from outbreaks and emergencies.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  1. Collect and analyze emergency preparedness and response M&E data and produce reports including adequate visuals such as maps, graphs and data tables.2. Support the management of M&E datasets and work with IT developers and other stakeholders to implement new features and tools that improve the efficiency and utilization of M&E data.3. Contribute to the preparation of monitoring and progress reports, case studies, briefings, proposals, reports, communications and advocacy documents required for strategic decision making. 4. Attend and support the convening of various emergency management meetings, and facilitate predictable follow-up on agreed action points with relevant stakeholders. 5. Contribute to the development of standards, guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for emergency preparedness and response M&E including updated response indicators and frameworks.6. Perform any other related duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: A first level university degree in business administration, social sciences or international relations from a recognized/accredited institute Desirable: An advanced degree in public health informatics, business administration, project management or emergency management.

Experience

Essential: A minimum of two years' experience in public health planning, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, supporting data and monitoring operations in a public health international context. Desirable: Experience working in WHO, the UN and/or international organization including at the regional/country level. Demonstrated experience in coordinating with and reporting on the work of diverse teams.Experience in designing and providing training. Related experience in the context of outbreaks or pandemic preparedness programmes.

Skills

--> Excellent organizational and analytical skills with ability to multi-task and produce results under pressure.--> Strong coordination skills and ability to analyse and synthesize information from multiple sources. --> Knowledge of M&E concepts for application in emergency preparedness and response settings.--> Professional skills in the development of reports and persuasive documents. --> Knowledge of the functioning of WHO and the UN system is an asset.--> Tact, discretion and diplomacy.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 49,254 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 2931 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
